Avidity Linx Limited will treat all employees, learners, and others for whom the organisation has responsibility with respect and dignity and seek to provide a positive working and learning environment free from discrimination, harassment or victimisation.

This statement applies to Board members, all staff, all learners, all employers, and all outside contractors with whom the organisation engages.

Discrimination is the exertion of power or influence to the detriment of the best interests of another individual or group because of their age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, class, religion, religious beliefs, family circumstances, political beliefs, or employment status.

Harassment is any hostile, offensive act or unwelcome attention against an individual or group, any incitement to commit such acts, any actions which affect a person’s safety or comfort which demeans that person in any way. The following provides examples of behaviors considered to be inappropriate;

  • Physical assault

  • Verbal threat and abuse

  • Unwelcome physical contact 

  • Offensive comments, derogatory name-calling, insults, and demeaning jokes

  • Incitement of others to behave in an offensive or oppressive manner

  • Provocative behaviours including mimicry

  • Refusal to co-operate in accepted organizational activities with other people on the grounds of their age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, class, religion, religious beliefs, family circumstances, political beliefs, or employment status.

  • Wearing of racist or sexist badges or insignia on clothing which may cause offense

  • Graffiti directed against an individual or vulnerable group

  • Displaying or distributing materials containing offensive material 

  • Attempting to recruit any member of the organisation’s community to racist organizations

  • Accessing inappropriate electronic media content.

This should not be viewed as a definitive list of inappropriate behaviour which causes another individual to feel discriminated against, harassed or victimised will be subject to investigate and disciplinary action taken where appropriate.
